The Division

The Effective Prescribing and Therapeutics Division exists to ensure delivery of safe and effective prescribing and use of medicines, within NHS Scotland. The Division focuses on delivering the priorities of Realistic Medicines and the National Clinical Strategy, applying evidence based guidance. The team provide tools, analysis, information and strategy.

The remit includes prescribing in both primary and secondary care, with particular focus on evaluation of prescribing systems and data collection. Work will be delivered with Boards who require support in developing and implementing improvement plans.

The Division will engage with colleagues across the UK and the EU, delivering the EU funded SIMPATHY project on Polypharmacy.
